I learn better from hands-on

We get this statement a lot. When asked IF they’ve ever gone through a hands-on course, usually they admit the answer is no. Therefore, we respectfully say, then how can you be certain hands-on is the best way for you? Their reply is “that’s a fair point.” And if someone has gone through a hands-on course, then we ask if they retained all the information they received? Typically, the answer is “no, not everything.” In turn, we’ve discovered what people were really saying all along is, “I watched YouTube videos and didn’t learn a thing”. And we agree with that 100%! Bottom line is: YouTube videos are NOT a structured e-Learning Course.
How is this different from just watching YouTube

In most cases, the individuals posting the videos on YouTube are not experienced instructors, nor have they ever had a well-established school, with a long history of training real students. Also, we’ve all heard “nothing in life is free”, plus there’s the old saying “you get what you pay for” ... and YouTube videos are free. That said, unlike these videos, our e-Learning Courses have an investment and carefully structured “Step-by-Step” core lessons that are modeled after our hands-on training, famous since 1997!
What’s the biggest unknown surprise about hands-on training

Ready for the hard truth?! There are only two ways to create patterns; either by hand-cut or plotter. The hand cutting WILL BE the most challenging and frustrating. Therefore, most schools will take the “easy” route and convince you to buy the plotter and software. In turn, this makes these schools more money and is something you DO NOT need. That’s why our e-Learning Courses are VERY detailed with the hand-cutting techniques and can take this frustration out of the equation. I need the instructor to see me doing an installation

You still can. As outlined in any of our “Certificate Course” options, they include Live Video Support to troubleshoot issues IF they arise; just as we have done for years with our hands-on graduates. For an example, if you get stuck with an installation, we will set up a live video meeting with you, and usually get you back on track within minutes. It’s that simple!
I need a hands-on school to give me plenty of practice time

Most are shocked to know, the practice time allotted in ANY hands-on course, for this industry, is typically not enough for long-term results. Sad, but true, and we just want to be upfront and honest. That said, any good tradesman will tell you that the revelation of achieving a satisfying installation came from when they were able to practice in their own environment, on their own time, and not actually in the hands-on school itself. As an example, we can confidently say, students that completed our e-Learning Courses usually found their stride after the first 8 – 10 installs only. Yep, that fast!
I need to force myself to travel somewhere else to learn

That is a valid concern; however, most of our graduates over the years, conveyed to us they didn’t realize the unpredictable events and stress that came with travel not to mention the extra expense. As a solution, you could consider finding a local hotel room with your laptop, or even going to a quiet library, where you can use their computer with headphones (if needed) to complete your e-Learning Course in private! As a comparison, during COVID, people realized achieving their fitness goals was BETTER with access anytime to a virtual trainer on an app, than actually going to a gym. Meaning, the value did not come from having to be somewhere else.
I want the ability to personally ask the instructor questions

You still can. As part of our e-Learning Courses, they include Live Phone/Email Support to answer any questions or concerns you may have. However, do know that most every question we've had teaching our hands-on courses, since 1997, are covered just the same in our e-Learning Courses. How can I tell my customers I didn’t learn this trade in a hands-on school

First, we say, why volunteer this information? However, you can still get an e-Learning Certificate of Completion from us to proudly hang on the wall to earn their confidence. In short, we’ve discovered most don’t care where or how you’re trained, just that it was done correctly. Are shorter hands-on courses better if I don’t have a lot of time or money

While those courses on the surface may save you time and money, they primarily only show you the basics, and are not enough training to fully prepare you for the real world. Also, those schools typically convince you to buy things you did not need (aka Up-Sell), in turn, they make up those profits on the back-end. Alternatively, our e-Learning courses can financially be a better deal for you, AND can be taken on your own time. Plus, they have all the “core” training elements created from our hands-on school’s successful years of experience!

It’s better to learn in an environment with others

On the contrary, there is always a different learning curve with each individual student; in turn, this can be a distraction and could even take away from the time sensitive hands-on curriculum. Plus, it’s human nature to interact with other people, however, this can sometimes inevitably be counter-productive when trying to focus and learn in a hands-on environment. With our e-Learning Courses, you’ll never have to worry about that, or having the instructions/demos being interrupted, again, taking time away from the actual training.
I want to learn on the school’s training vehicle

In reality, this concept doesn’t really matter. The best training is about learning the “process” in order to apply the techniques to ANY vehicle. That said, even if you were trained on the hardest vehicle of today, what happens tomorrow when you get a vehicle you’ve never seen before. Now, if it’s the practice time you’re really after, and want to simply install film, remove it, and install it again to gain the confidence and repetition, then that’s smart! Therefore, we suggest you can accomplish this on your own vehicle, or a friend’s/family member’s car, or even rent a car for a day or two. We trust you’ll find there’s lots of options to achieve your goals!
I need a school, because I don’t want to waste my own film practicing

It’s true that “practice makes perfect”, and it’s best to install film many times (and different film types) before actually committing to your first paid installation on a customer’s vehicle.
